CFSG worked with the Cat Group comprised of Cats Protection, International Cat Care, Woodgreen, BSAVA, The Mayhew Animal Home, GCCF, Battersea and International Cat Care for Vets to produce some clear guidance for cat breeding. This guidance comes about to ensure cat breeders and potential kitten buyers can have access to the same level of standards as exist for dogs and to try to improve welfare for cats broadly.
CFSG is seeking to ensure cats and kittens are not left behind as welfare understanding develops and we very much hope that Government will consider this Code of Practice and how it could be used alongside legislation in the future.
